Just yesterday, yet again, listening to a YT vid about scripture and the misguided uneducated use of the term "Jewish" to lump all of Israel under. Not only do Gentiles (even THAT term is used incorrectly) do this, but Jewish rabbis and scholars do also which of all people, they should know better!
Of course this problem has been around for a very long time and HOW do you correct others without offending them?
Israel is a nation like no other and ONLY if one really and deeply studies the Scriptures, will they find that ISRAEL is made up of several different ethnicity simply because some of Jacob's son's married wives of other nations.
The Torah, the Ten Commandments are for those who desire to join themselves to Israel (and serve and worship the LIVING GOD YHWH) and yes, even Jewish people can join. but there is a DISTINCT difference between being Jewish (the practice of Judaism which was sprung out of the loins of the Babylonian captivity) and being an Israelite.
Until we get thoroughly educated about this, the Scriptures (in places) will continue to be mysterious and confusing and understanding will remain elusive.
Even the words of Paul, he said in 19 verses, talking about ISRAEL and we will not find him saying these things about Jewish people.
The term "Jew" came about as a derogatory term by the Babylonians for those of Judah who were carried away. The pagan practices of the lunar calendar, the term "Jewish" (among other things not commanded in Torah) were brought back to the Land by others who were not true blood Judah (read Esther as one example of a few).
If you were born and raised in Idaho, then moved to Georgia would you want people to call you a Georgian? Even if we live elsewhere from where we are born and raised, we tend to hang on to our roots with this one great and obvious exception....the truth of scripture which is outweighed by ignorance of the scripture.
There was a time, when yes, I could lump myself into that uneducated group but as studying continued, my eyes were opened. There is a difference folks and we do our God a great disservice to continue in the falsehood of misinformation of the proper terms. We do Israel a great disservice also.
So, for now, when reading and finding the term "Jew" or "Jewish" we should always plug in "ISRAEL" or ISRAELITE". Out of respect (if nothing else) for the one true LIVING GOD and His WORD.
