An Important Word About Using Strong's Concordance

What has come about as a result of being blessed with time to study, is a discovery about using the Strong's Concordance. Well, actually even any other resource that helps to define the Hebrew and Greek words. But for the sake of this topic we'll stick with Strong's as the example.

When using the Strong's or even in e-Sword, the KJV+ module (awesome, has the Strong's built into it); it appears that in many cases, the first definition we are given might not be the one that fits.

You'll note that a lot of times, each word's definition, points to another source. It behooves any student to follow that "WORD TRAIL" and dig deeper.

In many cases it will round out the meaning of the word in question, and writing down each meaning given in a list.

Then take the verse you're studying and do what I call "Plug and Play". Take each meaning and replace the word you were looking up with that meaning and see if it meets these requirements:

1. How does it sound in the verse?

2. Does it make sense?

3. Which one makes MORE sense?

4. How does it fit within the context of the subject matter of the verse BEFORE and AFTER it?

These are basic steps for now. More to follow if needed.
