Brit Chadasha/Book of Hebrews
Going back in to reading the Book of Hebrews after a long while, it becomes apparent that any serious student of the Scriptures should study completely the Torah, the first five books for without full knowledge of these books, Hebrews can be difficult to grasp in places and a severe contributing factor is mistranslation of the actual ancient languages.
Was the Law/Torah really done away with? Would our God be so wishy washy as to go back on His Word? Is He a god that changes His mind?? The author, after much diligent study over the years, believes (based upon the Scriptures) that indeed, the Torah remains intact and the covenant (legally binding agreement) that He offered up to Israel for which they entered in to keep, is still in force to this very day.
So, one might ask, why would we need Jesus then? His full obedience to the Father in the commission of His task, gave us, not a replacement for the whole of the Law/Torah, but instead gave us a more perfect Blood by which we are saved from death. The Ultimate Atonement offering up a Divine, Sinless, Eternal Blood which covers ALL who receive it. Only an Eternal Blood would be able to cover for Eternity, sins of the past, present and future.
With this in mind, we will take the verses in Hebrews and break them out according to their ancient language definitions. It is the sincere hope that each who read this will gain a better understanding of the message given in this letter from Timothy.
Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the Word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Heb 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Heb 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
Heb 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
Heb 1:7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Heb 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Heb 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Heb 1:10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
Heb 1:11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
Heb 1:12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
Heb 1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Heb 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
Heb 2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
Heb 2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to His own Will?
Heb 2:5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
Heb 2:6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Heb 2:7 Thou madest Him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst Him with glory and honour, and didst set Him over the works of thy hands:
Heb 2:8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under His feet. For in that he put all in subjection under Him, he left nothing that is not put under Him. But now we see not yet all things put under Him.
Heb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Heb 2:10 For it became Him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Heb 2:11 For both He that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Heb 2:12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto My brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
Heb 2:13 And again, I will put my trust in Him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given Me.
Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power(dominion) of death, that is, the devil;
The devil’s dominion is death. He has dominion in the realms of death and this is why God gave Israel a choice to choose LIFE or Death. LIFE is offered through obedience to His Instructions (Torah).
Heb 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Heb 2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
Heb 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
Now made the perfect Mediator of all flesh, for by becoming flesh, tempted as we are in the same things, experiencing the things by which we fall daily, can now fully understand what we face daily and by that present excellent argument on our behalf before our Heavenly Father when the adversary stands in Court accusing us.
Heb 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession(profession,G3671 ), Christ Jesus;
G3671 ὁμολογία homologia hom-ol-og-ee'-ah
From the same as G3670; acknowledgment: - con- (pro-) fession, professed.
G3670 ὁμολογέω homologeō hom-ol-og-eh'-o
From a compound of the base of G3674 and G3056; to assent, that is, covenant, acknowledge: - con- (pro-) fess, confession is made, give thanks, promise.
The High Priest of our Covenant.
Heb 3:2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
Heb 3:3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
Heb 3:4 For every house is builded by some man; but He that built all things is God.
Heb 3:5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
Heb 3:6 But Christ as a son over His own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
PLEASE NOTE in the following places this word or phrase TO DAY.
Heb 3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear His voice,
G4594 σήμερον sēmeron say'-mer-on
Neuter (as adverb) of a presumed compound of the article G3588 (“tau” changed to “sigma”) ***and G2250; on the (that is, this) day (or night current or just passed); genitively now (that is, at present, hitherto): - this (to-) day.
*** a mystery to be considered and searched out. What might the Greek word “Temeron” Tay’ –mer-on” mean??? WHY was this letter changed and WHAT is the implication, meaning and understanding? Was it done to redirect us away from something crucial?
G2250 ἡμέρα hēmera hay-mer'-ah
Feminine (with G5610 implied) of a derivative of ἧμαι hēmai (to sit; akin to the base of G1476) meaning tame, that is, gentle; day, that is, (literally) the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours (but several days were usually reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively a period (always defined more or less clearly by the context): - age, + alway, (mid-) day (by day, [-ly]), + for ever, judgment, (day) time, while, years.
Heb 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
Heb 3:9 When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years.
Heb 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known My ways.
Heb 3:11 So I sware in My wrath, They shall not enter into My rest.)
Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Heb 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
Heb 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
Heb 3:16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
Heb 3:17 But with whom was He grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
Heb 3:18 And to whom sware He that they should not enter into His rest, but to them that believed not?
Heb 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
HEBREWS chapter 9
Heb 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
In the Hebraic Roots Version, the word translated directly from Aramaic is refreshing.
The Greek Strong’s definition for reformation is G1357. Following the word trail, we find buried several layers down (from G1357>G3713>G3735>G142>H5375). This is where context of meaning is found. H5375 is tied to expiation of sin.
In a June 1970 edition of Roget’s Thesaurus, we find REFRESHING is linked to #658: IMPROVEMENT. The list of synonyms given include:
Reformation
Revision – applies as any document (covenant, will) can be revised. Not done away with but revised.
Correction – improvement made upon something that already exists (legal document)
Repair – repairing the breach of contract : Hebrew word CH-D-SH
Recovery – to bring back to safety what was in danger of being lost or destroyed.
Refresh – Redo.
Renew - Hebrew word CH-D-SH
Enhance – make better by improving the type of blood offered.
Revise – see above Revision.
ALL of these words apply and are connected by virtue of their being linked under the word REFORMATION which is defined as IMPROVEMENT. Of even more importance are the bolded words Repair and Renew.
They are two thirds of the Hebrew definition of the word H2318:
H2318
חדשׁ
châdash
khaw-dash'
A primitive root; to be new; causatively to rebuild: - renew, repair.
The Covenant (Torah) was not abolished nor destroyed or done away with, but it was:
Improved, revised, corrected, repaired, recovered, refreshed, renewed, enhanced.
Digressing some it is important to note that in the 9 places in the TaNaCH (Old Testament) where we find the phrase NEW MOON, it has been mistranslated, misunderstood as to what it means. The lost holy calendar of God (found in the book of Enoch [Ethiopic]) has four RENEWAL days separating the 12 months into equal parts , four sets of 3 months each. For more information, search the site on the calendar or contact the administrator for assistance.
The “Law” was NOT done away with – it was amended, renewed, repaired; made better by the Perfect, Sinless, Divine, Eternal Blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The Covenant of God given at Sinai to Israel was a marriage contract, legally binding to the Children of Israel (and ALL descendants who live today). It is the TESTAMENT of the LIVING GOD, the Great I AM.
Heb 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better(renewed, revised, corrected) testament.
Heb 9:15 And for this cause He is the mediator of the new (renewed, revised, corrected) testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Heb 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
Heb 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
The Law/The Torah/The Will of the Testator, is not inherited by the children without death and the more perfect Eternal Blood which covers all sins, thereby making the inheritors (they which are called) worthy of receiving the promise of eternal life.
Jesus Christ, the Great I AM, the Living god who died for us that we might inherit what was legally given to us by reason of the CHANGE in TYPE of Blood, a more perfect Blood offered.
Joh 18:5 They answered Him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I AM . And Judas also, which betrayed Him, stood with them. **
Joh 18:6 As soon then as He had said unto them, I AM, they went backward, and fell to the ground. **
It was the Great I AM who entered into covenant with Israel. The covenant being the testament, marriage vows, the legal Will of God. It stands to reason it had to be the Great I AM who must die to activate the inheritance.
** Please note, in places where nouns are incorrectly lower case, I have taken license to change to proper noun status such as he to He; him to Him; I am he to I AM.
Hebrews 9:27
The focus of this next unpacking is on the above verse 9:27 but in order to fully comprehend what is being said here, we include verses which precede and follow in order to embrace the context. The full weight of the inference of these verses points to the souls of mankind being reincarnated. Jesus even gives us a clue and so we also find more clues that even the people understood back then about reincarnation. Why then, has the church suppressed this?
The first set of verses are those in which the context of 9:27 should be understood. The second list beginning with Matthew 11:13 are indicative of reincarnation. Extra canonical sources validate reincarnation and logic would tell us that the soul has life beyond the flesh. Yes, the flesh dies, but the soul lives on.
First, it should be noticeable that chapters 7, 9 and 10 speak directly of Jesus Christ as our High Priest. All the verses are speaking of Him as the subject of discourse. For the sake of brevity only specific verses are now listed and pointed out.
Heb 7:27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this He did once, when He offered up Himself.
Heb 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Heb 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. ##
Heb 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. ##
## TESTATOR. Not a plural word, but singular denoting only ONE.
Heb 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Heb 9:25 Nor yet that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Heb 10:5 Wherefore when He cometh into the world, He saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared Me:
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10:12 But this man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb 10:14 For by one offering He hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
PLEASE NOTE in all instances of the bolded words ONCE and ONE and consider that these speak of HIM, Jesus Christ, our ONE and ONLY High Priest.
This verse:
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
This verse is key to teaching the false understanding that we die and when we die, that’s that.
Should the word “men” be replaced with “flesh”? Surely that sounds more accurate. The author has pondered this for years. The reader might gloss past this verse if studying in one translation, but consider that in the more direct translation in Aramaic to English we find that it points to “the son of man” as being appointed to die once. Even the casual student would not miss the fact that Jesus referred to Himself as the son of man.
This entire concept is presented not to sway anyone but to get the student to think outside the box.
The verses below show us that the culture of the time of Jesus, the people, believed in reincarnation. Jesus taught it and spoke of it:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Mat 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
Mat 11:14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
Mat 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Mat 16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
Mat 16:14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
THEY SAID, Some. Clearly implies that SOME do indeed consider reincarnation.
Mat 17:10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
Mat 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
Does Jesus infer here that Elijah will come back in our time?
Mat 17:12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
Mar 6:15 Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
Mar 8:27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
Mar 8:28 And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
Mar 9:11 And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?
Mar 9:12 And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.
Mar 9:13 But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.
Luk 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Luk 9:7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead;
Luk 9:8 And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.
Luk 9:18 And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?
Luk 9:19 They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.
** RISEN AGAIN** (what might that really mean?) Jesus even implied it:
Mat 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Mat 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
Mat 17:23 And they shall kill Him, and the third day He shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.
Mat 20:19 And shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day He shall rise again.
Mat 26:32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
Mat 27:63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while He was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
Mar 8:31 And He began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
Mar 10:34 And they shall mock Him, and shall scourge Him, and shall spit upon Him, and shall kill Him: and the third day He shall rise again.
Luk 8:53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
Luk 8:54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
Luk 8:55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
Luk 9:8 And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.
baskets.
Luk 9:18 And it came to pass, as He was alone praying, his disciples were with Him: and He asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?
Luk 9:19 They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.
Luk 18:33 And they shall scourge him, and put Him to death: and the third day He shall rise again.
Luk 24:7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
Joh 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love Me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
Joh 10:18 No man taketh it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of My Father.
Joh 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
Joh 20:9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. ##
## They knew not the scripture, that He must rise again. Can we find this in Scripture??
Act 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that He hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
Act 13:37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.
Act 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, ##
Act 17:3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. ##
## Reasoned with them out of the scriptures. Which specific scriptures?
We might see here a couple of things:
- That reincarnation is implied.(Jesus referring to john and Elijah)
- That the soul can come back into the body (Jesus raising the dead).
Both concepts reveal proof that the soul lives past the body, beyond the body after death. It goes somewhere and waits for something. That something could be hell or heaven or it could be reassignment to another body.
In one ancient work titled Pistis Sophia, Jesus teaches more indepth about the soul and its travels and how it must reach a higher level of understanding and it might take more than one life for it to learn what is necessary to be eligible for the Region of the Kingdom of L:ight. We seem to be too quick to dismiss these things and we have been done a disservice by pastors and teachers who preach otherwise. But is it their fault completely? Only by reason of their fear of teaching outside the parameters of doctrinal requirements to remain the pastoral leader. OR they continue to keep inside the box as they trust what they were taught in seminary.
The word AGAIN implies that the something spoken of or written about has happened before. It is used many times as we see from all the verses listed.
Leaving the reader with one last thought:
God the Father is eternal.
Jesus Christ the Son of God is eternal.
If we have life in us because we were created by God, how could we not also be eternal?
The question is what we do with our eternal soul. Do we send it to a place without God where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth or do we save our selves(souls) and attain to the Region of the Kingdom of Light where the Father resides?
