Some Wedding Parallels

Wedding Parallels

Jacob married Leah first because she was the eldest, a sort of first fruit.

Jacob had to wait a week before he could marry the wife he loved:

Gen 29:16  And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.

Gen 29:17  Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.

Gen 29:18  And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.

Gen 29:19  And Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me.

Gen 29:20  And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.

Gen 29:21  And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.

Gen 29:22  And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.

Gen 29:23  And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.

Gen 29:24  And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.

Gen 29:25  And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?

Gen 29:26  And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.

Gen 29:27  Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.

Gen 29:28  And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.

Gen 29:29  And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.

Gen 29:30  And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.

Gen 29:31  And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.

Will there be two brides of Israel? Two gatherings? A first of firstfruits, who are legal firstborn, then a second of the loved ones?

Scripture, more specifically, Torah appears to bear this out:

Deu 21:15  If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:

Deu 21:16  Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:

Deu 21:17  But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

Is it possible that the Torah born firstfruits, the bride of Israel, the remnant, who supp at the wedding feast (partaking of TORAH) are first, and will be hated, but will serve seven years?

Are they the ones also called “the House of Jacob” in scripture? Those whose bloodlines of the twelve tribes are the most pure. These are the called out ones and because they are the House of Jacob, they serve seven years to help retrieve the second more loved wife, those of Israel whom YHWH promised, that not one grain of Israel will fall to the ground?

Scripture goes on to tell us that the “Saints”, those who keep the commandments –AND- have the faith of EHYEHshua, will be hated and pursued and afflicted.

In a sense though, they already have a double portion in that they have the blessings of Life given through TORAH, and the blessings of Life in the faith of EHYEHshua.

Solomon’s temple took seven years to build:

1Ki 6:37  In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month Zif:

1Ki 6:38  And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
