There are TWO "First Mentions" we must acquaint ourselves with:
"Sanctified" and "Holy". Below are the FIRST mentions of both:
Gen_2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Exo_3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

From H6942; a sacred place or thing; rarely abstractly sanctity: - consecrated (thing), dedicated (thing), hallowed (thing), holiness, (X most) holy (X day, portion, thing), saint, sanctuary.
Clearly, BOTH definitions tie together, mesh as ONE and should be considered as ONE concept.
We must get to know what it means to be Sanctified, Holy. We must know this, in order to KNOW YHWH.
Jesus said these things:
Mat_25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Mar_12:24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
Joh_8:19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
Joh_8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Joh_10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
Joh_10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Joh_15:21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
There are 844 matches in the entire bible for the word "know". 158 of those are found in the four Gospels.
744 times the word "HOLY" is found in the entire Bible. In Torah alone it is found 187 times
Exo_19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
Lev_10:10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;
Lev_11:44 For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy:
Lev_11:45 For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
Lev_19:2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.
Exo_20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

The above are just a few verses to show that HOLY and SANCTIFIED are the SAME thing. The same thing that YHWH requires of anyone who desires to draw close to Him.
This is the FIRST CONCEPT we must learn if we are to be so blessed as to have YHWH reveal His Word to us in ways that He desires and not in the ways that mainstream religion has done.
