Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge

Hebrew Wedding, Passover Parallels

Below is an excerpt from an unknown author. As far as I know the original work was 65 pages long and this is just a small part. I received it years ago form someone else and if there's more to this, I don't have it available as I am no longer in contact with that former acquaintance.  I would give credits if I knew who it belonged to. In between I have added and expanded on what is being said, including verses from scripture in the hopes of clarifying and tying together these concepts.

This is an awesome understanding of the Passover Feast and how it relates to the Hebrew Wedding and why every Christian should learn about this in the hopes it will lead them to truth.

A Hebrew View of Messiah
Hebrew Wedding -- Biblical Custom

In Biblical times when a Hebrew man wished to have the hand of a Hebrew woman in Marriage, he would visit the father of his future bride to discuss the price that would be necessary for her hand. During this meeting would be discussed his intent, and the price that would be paid for his bride negotiated.

The Groom then made a visit to his intended Bride to present himself to her with plans for the future and their commitment to each other, should their desire be mutual.

Rev 3:20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Below is the part of the wedding feast that is represented by the Spring Feast of Pesach(Passover). This is where we accept the proposal by the sharing and drinking of the wine.

Upon presenting to her his plans, and seeing her response, he would pass a cup of wine to her. This was the moment of truth for their course of action. To drink of the cup would be her acceptance to his proposal and a life long commitment to him. To pass on the cup would end the relationship. This moment in her life was very important. To drink from the cup meant Betrothal, establishment of a marriage covenant, set apart exclusively for her husband.

Mat 26:26  And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. (This would have been Unleavened bread, bread without the leaven of sin as Jesus was sinless)

Mat 26:27  And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

Mat 26:28  For this is my blood of the renewed covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. (The only thing that changed was the TYPE of blood offered up for atonement of sins. No longer temporary corruptible animal blood which must be offered up every time Israel sinned; but now a once and for all, eternal DIVINE and sinless blood of God that would cover all of Israel’s sins forever, even when they sin in ignorance.)

Let’s look one more time at this verse and the words of Jesus:

Mat 26:28  For this is my blood of the renewed covenant(new testament), which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

(The covenant given at Mt. Sinai has been RENEWED. Not changed. Not abolished, not done away with. RENEWED.)

YHWH  only changed the TYPE of blood (through His Son) and in order to fully understand what this means, we must look at the Hebrew word which defines RENEWED. We find it in the Hebrew  family of words for HOLY: CHODESH.

Gen_2:3  And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

The BLOOD OF JESUS, was sanctified, holy, consecrated, pronounced clean.

His Blood RENEWED His original covenant (TORAH) making it accessible to all of Israel who had been scattered and lost their identity.

His Blood REPAIRED the breach.

All of the above definitions are TIED TOGETHER in that in Hebrew, words only consist of consonants, not vowels. Vowels were added later for various reasons, so we must LOOK at the consonants:

Qadash: Q-D-SH

Qodesh: Q-D-SH

Chodesh:  CH-D-SH

Chadash: CH-D-SH

Sharing the cup, with eyes on each other, hearts soaring, the Groom would promise with words like this: Let not your heart be troubled. In my Father's house there are many rooms, and I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again to take you unto myself that where I am you will be also. If it were not true I would not have told you. (Joh14:2,3)

The moment she drank from the cup her intentions were  sealed, and when the price was paid The Covenant was sealed. She was betrothed to him, separated from the world as she then waited for his return. She was not then His Wife, but was then a Bride in waiting.

See above "when the price was paid". We know from scripture that EHYEHshua was betrayed for thirty pieces of silver. Has anyone contemplated or wondered why that amount? We can actually find an answer in Torah.

Lev 27:2  Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by thy estimation.

Lev 27:3  And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary.

Lev 27:4  And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels.

When studying this part of Torah, you would think that EHYEHshua's price should have been fifty shekels since he was male. But instead we find the price paid was thirty shekels. This is the price for a female, the Bride. This is declared in Torah:

Lev 27:4  And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels.

He then would return to His Father's house to prepare their Bridal Chamber-Huppah and He would continue in preparation until His Father said that it was finished. He would not know when the room was finished, only the Father knew. So the Son continued preparing until Word came from His Father that preparations were complete.

Mat 25:1  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

Mat 25:2  And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

Mat 25:3  They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

Mat 25:4  But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Mat 25:5  While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

Mat 25:6  And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

Mat 25:7  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

Mat 25:8  And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

Mat 25:9  But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

Mat 25:10  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Mat 25:11  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

Mat 25:12  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Mat 25:13  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Mat 24:36  But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Mat 24:42  Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Mat 24:44  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

"in such hour as ye think NOT". Clearly, even if we know the Appointed Times, even if we were to consider the beginning of the seventh month with a new moon, we would have it narrowed down, so then EHYEHshua's own words here fall dead.

Many Christians cause EHYEHshua's own words to fall dead when they profess that Paul's words have more weight and believe that the "Law"/Torah" does not apply to them.

If we "think" that the new moon of the seventh month is the time of His arrival, if we cling to this, we might end up being deceived.

In Matt 24:36 EHYEHshua says it is His Father only who knows and this is in keeping with the Wedding ritual.

During his absence which could be a day, week, month, a year or longer, the Bride would wait and put together her wedding dress, in preparation for Her Groom's Return.

Are we seeing any parallels here with Creation week of seven days, the wedding feast of seven days, the seven thousand years? What about His coming in the middle of the covenant(of seven thousand years) to propose (Pesach); Coming in the middle of the week, during the Feast of Tabernacles as the King riding on a donkey ref: Dan 9:27  And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, ... )

During his absence she wore a veil, a symbol of her
Set-Apartness, and would not be seen by strangers. Her commitment was played out during this waiting period and none were allowed to interfere. She would prepare by day, and wait by night for her Groom. Her dowry kept her busy as her heart longed for that moment when He would return for Her and take Her onto Himself.

When the Groom finished preparation of the Bridal Chamber according to His Father's approval, a torchlight procession led by the Groom, with His Best Man and members from the wedding party proceeded to the home of the Bride to claim His Waiting Wife. This event usually happened at night. The Bride needed to be ready at a moments notice, for her only announcement came by a shout from the best man. Her dowry prepared by day, and waiting by night with her lamp light on in anticipation of His Coming, Listening for the shout, night by night, not knowing when or what moment, being readily prepared to trim Her Lamp and go to be received by Her Husband kept her busy looking forward to Her Wedding Day.

Once received, the wedding party returned to the Father's house to find the Father had prepared a Magnificent Wedding Feast. Members of the wedding party would escort the Bride and Groom to the Huppah, Hebrew for bridal chamber. The best man would wait outside the bridal chamber to hear a prearranged signal that the marriage was consummated, (John 3:29). That began a seven-day celebration with all the guests and the wedding party, but the bride remained hidden within the Huppah until the Groom brought her out unveiled after the seven days were completed. Now the guests could see the Bride without the veil as she joined in the festivities, and for life to celebrate with Her Husband the wonderful bonds of total commitment in their marriage. In the flesh, the Veil that covers us is The Flesh.  By looking upon the flesh, we cannot tell the Bride in waiting from the Tares/Darnel.  All Veils look approximately the same.  The only difference is what is beyond that Veil; what lurks beneath in the Heart, and whom is that heart waiting for.  This is all played out in our Walk, and within our walk, it is necessary to carry with us enough OIL for the journey.  The Journey here on this earth is a Seven Day trip-Seven thousand years long Walk among like minds and unfaithful X-virgins, from whom we are unable to tell the difference by sight, but from the Walk-Works-Oil in their lamps, we have our first clue of who we will dine with at the Magnificent Wedding Feast prepared for His Bride.
