Hos 4:4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another

To Tell or not To Tell

That is the Question

This has been a troubling struggle for me over the years since discovering the truth about who Israel really is. I have tried to take that message to others only to be flat out rejected, so after a time, I stopped. But the words in Ezekiel vex me when I find myself feeling the heartache of God over His truth being ignored.

The quandary of to tell or not to tell boils down to two things:

  1. If I tell someone the truth and they still reject it, they are no longer innocent in their ignorance. Have I then condemned them to God’s wrath?

A police officer can pull someone over for speeding. They are new to the area and the speed limit sign had been previously knocked over. The driver was unaware of the posted speed. The officer will most likely grant mercy and give just a warning.

But if he sees this same person breaking the law again after being told what the speed limit is, then he is obligated to cite the driver with a fine.

Maybe that’s not the best analogy as it does have obvious flaws, but I hope the point is being made.

That speed limit posted is for everyone. Not just the driver who didn’t know, but for all who pass on the way of that road. It is for their safety and the safety of others.

God’s commandments for Israel are no different but obedience to them gives the person who obeys something beyond the literal obedience of His Way.

  1. If I don’t tell the truth of God’s word, then that person might remain under the mercy and grace of ignorance. That God might look at their heart, knowing they are a good person, they believe in His Son and so by that alone, they are saved.

Ignorance is bliss.

Silence is golden.

In the book of Ezekiel we are told we must engage others and tell the truth, no matter the outcome. They will either embrace the truth or reject it. But woe to the one who rejects it. But then at least Ezekiel will not have the blood of that one on his hands, it will be on the head of the one who rejected it.

Their blood is on us if we do not speak up. But if we tell them and they still reject it, then their blood is on their own heads and we are clean of it.

The phrase “Son of man” is mentioned a staggering 93 times. This is the same phrase or title used by Jesus Himself. This is what He called Himself. This should then be as huge clue as to who this is in the Book of Ezekiel.

If we use that as a guide, we see that everything God is telling Ezekiel, is what He has told His son, Jesus. For all of us who believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came and shed His blood a ransom for many, we must then also believe His words when He said: “I AM the vine. Abide in Me and I in you”.

If by receiving Him through His blood atonement, we then abide in Him and He in us, we have a duty, an obligation, a directive solid and firm to tell the truth to as many souls as possible and for those we are unable, we must pray for them and we must do that unceasingly as Paul instructed.
