The Creationist Viewpoint Revisited

Yesterday I watched some YT vids of Kent Hovind. He has his own YT channel now and he is (as his fans know) a staunch Creationist and his explanation is the most logical, sound and rational teaching our family has ever come across. We have his Creation DVDs and have watched them.

I was not ever aware of his position on keeping the Sabbath however and frankly didn’t give it a thought, knowing he was Christian and accepting that God has not opened the eyes of Christians as a whole yet, only a remnant so far.

In his vids he answers questions that people have written or emailed in and one had to do with the Sabbath, the SDA church and E.G. White. While I can understand about the legalistic doctrine of SDA being a stumbling block, their keeping of the Sabbath is founded in the truth of God’s word. He went on of course to say that SDA was a cult and that bothered me not because I would defend that flavor of Christianity more than any other, but it was clear he was saying so because they kept the Sabbath.

After watching it I couldn’t stop thinking about his position. It then dawned on me in the form of a question:

How can one be a staunch Creationist, declaring God’s word in Genesis as Truth and in the same breath deny the 7th day of that same first week????

The argument set forth by mainstream Christian apologetics is that the Old Testament is for and about the Jews, yet that right there is a contradiction in terms for any staunch Creationist.

Let me be clear that I am not picking on Dr. Hovind at all. He just happened to phrase his words in such a way that caused me to consider further this seemingly diametrically opposed viewpoint which is held by the masses.

If you’re a Creationist, you are declaring this from the very first book of the OT.

The Theme of God throughout the entire bible even Jesus said this, you cannot have your cake and eat it too. One either believes the WHOLE Truth of God or not. One cannot just pick and choose what they believe out of His Word. God doesn’t allow for that and has not ever said that we should do this. Yet this is EXACTLY what the masses do and when challenged with it, they get their hackles up and spout what they have been taught in church by their pastors which is not grounded in the Scriptures at all. If you grew up Catholic, you got your knuckles whacked with a ruler by the nuns.

This same group goes on to defend their position by saying that the Sabbath is for the Jews. While the Jewish people do indeed keep God's Sabbath, this same group erroneously calls all of Israel “Jewish” when in fact it was a derogatory nickname given to the captivity in Babylon, by the natives. The faith practice of “Judaism” sprung out the loins of Babylonian paganism and lunar calendar all of which was merged into the religion of the land of Israel by those who came back from the captivity (see the Book of Esther and KNOW that many who were Babylonians converted to the religion and came back with the “Jews”.).

While Israel was commanded to keep the Sabbath (being retaught it in the wilderness), they were not around in that first week of Creation. We then have to determine that God meant this for EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE no matter who you were or are.

Creation has to do with EVERYONE, not just a select few.

Jesus said that if even one commandment were broken, then all were.

It’s time to decide whether we are going to FULLY embrace God’s truth or continue to pick and choose whatever man says. For too long have the masses been held in sway by the lies of mankind. It’s time to truly ask God to reveal His truth, that it overcomes the works of the devil for which Jesus came to destroy.

Many say the Law has been done away with. Jesus never said that. In fact He stated this:

Mat_5:17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Here on this website, we are devoted to proving that Jesus kept the Torah flawlessly, perfectly in all ways. That God’s word for us is to obey Him in all things. Jesus did exactly that to His own death and was perfected in it. Just as Jesus died to our sins, so too we must die to ourselves.

We are coming down to the wire (of time) folks. Ask not “What would Jesus do? /ask instead “what did Jesus do and follow His example.
