"To be male"

The same word in Hebrew "zakar" is used where we find in English: "males" and "remember"

Gen 9:15  And I will rememberH2142 (H853) my covenant,H1285 whichH834 is betweenH996 me and you and everyH3605 livingH2416 creatureH5315 of allH3605 flesh;H1320 and the watersH4325 shall noH3808 moreH5750 becomeH1961 a floodH3999 to destroyH7843 allH3605 flesh.H1320

H2142 “remember”

זכר

zâkar

zaw-kar'

A primitive root; properly to mark (so as to be recognized), that is, to remember; by implication to mention; also (as denominative from H2145) to be male: -  X burn [incense], X earnestly, be male, (make) mention (of), be mindful, recount, record (-er), remember, make to be remembered, bring (call, come, keep, put) to (in) remembrance, X still, think on, X well.

Below is an excerpt from the Gospel of Thomas. In it, Peter has disdain for Mary because she is a woman, but EHYEHshua has something very curious to say and it had always had me wondering what He meant by the following underlined words:

(114) Simon Peter said to him, "Let Mary leave us, for women are not worthy of life."
Jesus said, "I myself shall lead her in order to make her (remembered) male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every woman who will make herself male (remembered) will enter the kingdom of heaven."

Joh 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Only when studying the Hebrew word for "remember", then the words "to be male" stood out and then the words of EHYEHshua in The Gospel of Thomas, made perfect sense.

Searching the word "male" yields H2145:

H2145

From H2142; properly remembered, that is, a male (of man or animals, as being the most noteworthy sex): -  X him, male, man (child, -kind).

Searching the word "remember" yields H2142:

More TO BE MALE

7 April, 2013

In one of the Gnostic gospels, EHYEHshua told His disciples, when Peter admonished that Mary was there among them, that she must attain to be come "male". I couldn't fully grasp what He meant by that and have pondered it for years since first reading it. Now, perhaps what EHYEHshua meant has been made clear(?).

Just this morning, having some quiet time on the day of the Wave Sheaf Offering (according to the time of the calendar of Enoch) for Pesach and Feast of Unleavened Bread. I open the Torah to Exodus, not deliberate in the pages but it opens to Exodus chapter 29. In perusing the words, I see I must back up to chapter 28 and in the process of reading the words, I realize I need to know the actual Hebrew words to know the deeper meanings of what is being instructed. So, here I am with e-Sword open and what do I find but the following:

Exo 28:3  And thouH859 shalt speakH1696 untoH413 allH3605 that are wiseH2450 hearted,H3820 whomH834 I have filled withH4390 the spiritH7307 of wisdom,H2451 that they may makeH6213 (H853) Aaron'sH175 garmentsH899 to consecrateH6942 him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.H3547

H4390

מלא    מלא

mâlê'  mâlâ'

maw-lay', maw-law'

A primitive root, to fill or (intransitively) be full of, in a wide application (literally and figuratively): - accomplish, confirm, + consecrate, be at an end, be expired, be fenced, fill, fulfil, (be, become, X draw, give in, go) fully (-ly, -ly set, tale), [over-] flow, fulness, furnish, gather (selves, together), presume, replenish, satisfy, set, space, take a [hand-] full, + have wholly.

As is typical not only in this "male" dominated world, but also add to that, the human fallibility and  probable bias of any given translator, after reading Exodus 28:3 and then breaking down the study of each word, that "being filled with the Spirit" (or "Male' " in the Hebrew) is -exactly- what EHYEHshua meant. Not in the literal Greek mindset which most translators see text with, but in the deeper Hebrew. Even though these books were found written in Coptic, since this language evolved from Greek, it is no stretch to consider that the word was somehow mistranslated. This same pattern is seen even in the understanding or mindset of the Pharisees with Nicodemus being the case in point. When EHYEHshua spoke to him of being born again, he was only able to grasp it as a literal re-entering of a womb, rather than the higher spiritual understanding which cannot be received at all unless one is "male'" or "filled with the Spirit of Wisdom".

Here we see the same application used in the New Testament the same as in the verse from Exodus:

Luk_1:41  AndG2532 it came to pass,G1096 that, whenG5613 ElisabethG1665 heardG191 theG3588 salutationG783 of Mary,G3137 theG3588 babeG1025 leapedG4640 inG1722 herG846 womb;G2836 andG2532 ElisabethG1665 was filledG4130 with the HolyG40 Ghost:G4151

G4130 "filled"

πλήθω

plēthō

play'-tho, pleh'-o,

A prolonged form of a primary word πλέω pleō (which appears only as an alternate in certain tenses and in the reduplicated form of πίμπλημι pimplēmi to “fill” (literally or figuratively [imbue, influence, supply]); specifically to fulfil (time): - accomplish, full (. . . come), furnish.

Or perhaps even more accurate:

Luk_2:40  AndG1161 theG3588 childG3813 grew,G837 andG2532 waxed strongG2901 in spirit,G4151 filledG4137 with wisdom:G4678 andG2532 the graceG5485 of GodG2316 wasG2258 uponG1909 him.G846

G4137 "filled"

πληρόω

plēroō

play-ro'-o

From G4134; to make replete, that is, (literally) to cram (a net), level up (a hollow), or (figuratively) to furnish (or imbue, diffuse, influence), satisfy, execute (an office), finish (a period or task), verify (or coincide with a prediction), etc.: - accomplish, X after, (be) complete, end, expire, fill (up), fulfil, (be, make) full (come), fully preach, perfect, supply.

It appears then as evidence presents, that to become "male" as it has been translated in the Gnostic writing, is to become "filled with the Spirit of Wisdom “ and Torah is where we find clarity of understanding.

  • more proof that the Bride is the 144k and that it is comprised of those who are PURE, then understood as VIRGIN:

2Co 11:2 For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you as a pure virgin to Christ.

Even Paul understood this. Paul was clearly speaking of a body of people, those who follow Jesus Christ. to think it is exclusive to male virings is narrow minded, for the Body of Christ IS made up of all of us who follow Him.

  • Also He says, there is neither male, nor female, Jew nor Greek in Him..... because we become One in Him as it states in the book of John. Note the apocrypha..... why was it removed though proven to be cannan... where is the letter to the  Laodicean church mentioned in Colossians....what is the key behind Asher and Acts.....

  • Isa 66:7 BeforeH2962 she travailed,H2342 she brought forth;H3205 beforeH2962 her painH2256 came,H935 she was deliveredH4422 of a man child.H2145

    G435  a man,G435

    ἀνήρ

    anēr

    an'-ayr

A primary word (compare G444); a man (properly as an individual male): - fellow, husband, man, sir.

Sadly, if we take this at the Greek mindset, we cannot make this connection. The writers of the RENEWED Covenant (New Testament) did not write their works in Greek. This transliteration came later for the Greek speaking Jews.

The original writings were in either Hebrew or Aramaic and given that fact, we must consider the words carefully and seek out their Hebrew counterparts. We can also “plug and play” according to that methodology:

1Co 13:11  When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became male, I put away childish things.

Then also, now knowing that “male” means “to remember; to bring into remembrance”:

1Co 13:11  When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became remembered, I put away childish things.

So, in order to validate 1 Corinthians 13:11, we have to go back to the Torah, specifically to Exodus:

Exo 28:12  And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial.

    Exo 28:12  And thou shalt putH7760 (H853) the twoH8147 stonesH68 uponH5921 the shouldersH3802 of the ephodH646 for stonesH68 of memorialH2146 unto the childrenH1121 of Israel:H3478 and AaronH175 shall bearH5375 (H853) their namesH8034 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 uponH5921 his twoH8147 shouldersH3802 for a memorial.H2146

    H2146

    זכרון

From H2142; a memento (or memorable thing, day or writing): - memorial, record.

    H2142

    זכר

    zâkar

Again, in most cases of word studies, we must trace back to the PRIMITIVE ROOT to find the more accurate meaning.

  • Hmmm....now wondering if the mystery of this verse could be unlocked.......

Jer 31:22 How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

  • See any and all other studies regarding the 144k  (on this site) for more insight!

  • Corrected this from Gospel of James to Gospel of Thomas. Thanks to someone on FB who brought it to my attention!

ALSO!!! Because of this...I found more that I had put together later and have added it to this study.

  • To be fair, regarding the any views as to whether they are all male virgins (literal meaning) or "males' in the sense of "remembered" as we see in this post;

I cannot say, that is my own personal opinion and is left on the fence. I do believe there will be a mix of male and female in the 144k. But again, that is pure conjecture. Whatever the gender, the criteria that YHWH established is that they are pure or purified from all pagan religious traditions; that they keep the Commandments of God -AND- have the faith of Jesus Christ.

I believe YHWH sees not the gender, He is looking at our hearts and whether we are willing to completely surrender to Him.

  • I've added TWO file attachments. They contain further in-depth study of this subject matter.
