Apologetics/NT Debates

In Rabbinic writings it is established by them, they are expecting TWO messiahs and consider them to be from two different tribes.

What if that’s not the case? What if we take the clues given to us in the Renewed Covenant (New Testament)?

We are given both lineages of Miriam(Mary, through David’s son Nathan [Luke 3:23]) and Joseph[ through King Solomon,Mat 1:1] which BOTH lead us back to the House of David but are given in such a manner as to inform the student of how it all ties in.

In fact, both lineages brings to Jesus the role of king, priest and prophet by virtue of

The early union of Levi (Aaron) and Judah (messianic line of Amminidab)we find all the way back in Exodus:

Exo 6:23  And Aaron took him Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab, sister of Naashon, to wife; and she bare him Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

This gives us a high priest (through Aaron); A prophet (through Nathan, son of David); A king (through Solomon, son of David).

Some have argued that the NT is false because the two lineages given, conflict with each other. They are not taught correctly that one is the lineage of Miriam and one is of Joseph. They argue that because Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit that the lineage of Joseph is inconsequential but ON EARTH in order to perform His obedient duty and be our once and for all KING, then He must be able to legally claim the throne through His earthly father’s bloodline, Joseph by whom even though “adopted” in the sense of not through his blood, but still IS His legal earthly father therefore inheriting the kingship by the same.

Mat 1:1  The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Luk 3:23  And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

To also clarify that this phrase:  which was the son of Heli,

Is how the culture of that time referred to a son in law and that Heli (Eli) was Miriam’s father and so my marriage made Joseph his son.

Interestingly, the genealogy presented in Matthew, that of Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, is listed in descending order and stops at Abraham.

The genealogy of Miriam goes all the way back to “son of Adam, son of God”, thereby fulfilling the prophecy of the Messiah found in Genesis:

Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

When the rabbis speak of Messiah ben Joseph, they refer to a SON of  Joseph,(the son of Jacob). But how would he be an “Anointed one”?

In what respect could he fit the criteria of a messiah?

He (Joseph) saved his brethren by the wisdom of YHWH to be sure, but that led them into the place where later, they would be held in bondage. But Joseph was Joseph, not a son of Joseph.

Moses, who was also led by God, was of the tribe of Levi, not Joseph nor a son of Joseph. God used the tribe of Levi to facilitate the freeing of His Children Israel.

Consider these things with an open mind, reasoning with logic, breaking down into simpler concepts and the truth will eventually find its way out.
