The Ark IS The Name?
Solomon’s Temple and Parallels with Jesus

Below are a list of several translations of the 2 Sam 6:2 verse in which depending on the wording, some translations obscure and others reveal that the Ark is much more than a repository for the Testimony. Let’s first consider the JPS 1917 translation which differs from the modern JPS but both offer something not easily seen:
(JPS-1917) Then David and all the troops that were with him set out from Baalim of Judah to bring up from there the Ark of God to which the Name was attached, the name LORD of Hosts Enthroned on the Cherubim.
(JPS) And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him, from Baale-judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whereupon is called the Name, even the name of the LORD of hosts that sitteth upon the cherubim.
While the Hebrew word “asher” is found translated as “which, whereupon, and that” it has also been translated in most (more often than not) cases, as “whose” implying a living being. What is concerning is that in just about all the KJV flavors out there, it is “whose”, but the MKJV (Modern KJV) it has been changed to deflect the idea of a being and changing the wording to “which”. But at the same time, if we remove the words in italics from that MKJV verse, we find this:
(MKJV) And David arose and went with all the people with him from beyond Baale of Judah, to bring up the ark of God from there, which called the Name, the Name of Jehovah of Hosts who dwells above the cherubs.
Below are some examples:
2 Samuel 6:2
(ASV) And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him, from Baale-judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, which is called by the Name, even the name of Jehovah of hosts that sitteth above the cherubim.
(Bishops) And arose, and went with all the folke that were with him, from Baala of Iuda, to fet away from thence the arke of God, whose name is called by the name of the lord of hoastes that dwelleth vpon it betweene the cherubims.
(Brenton) And David arose, and went, he and all the people that were with him, and some of the rulers of Juda, on an expedition to a distant place, to bring back thence the ark of God, on which the name of the Lord of Host who dwells between the cherubs upon it is called.
(Darby) And David arose and went with all the people that were with him from Baale-Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God which is called by the name, the name of Jehovah of hosts who sitteth between the cherubim.
(Geneva) And Dauid arose and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Iudah to bring vp from thence the Arke of God, whose name is called by the Name of the Lorde, of hostes, that dwelleth vpon it betweene the Cherubims.
(JPS) And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him, from Baale-judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whereupon is called the Name, even the name of the LORD of hosts that sitteth upon the cherubim.

(KJV-1611) And Dauid arose and went with all the people that were with him, from Baale of Iudah, to bring vp from thence the Arke of God, whose Name is called by the Name of the Lord of hostes, that dwelleth betweene the Cherubims.
(KJVA) And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.
(KJV-BRG) And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.
(MKJV) And David arose and went with all the people with him from beyond Baale of Judah, to bring up the ark of God from there, which is called by the Name, the Name of Jehovah of Hosts who dwells above the cherubs.
(The Scriptures 1998+) And Dawiḏ rose up and went with all the people who were with him from Baʽalĕ Yehuḏah, to bring up from there the ark of Elohim, that is called by the Name, the Name יהוה of Hosts, who dwells between the keruḇim.
(Webster) And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubim.
(YLT) and David riseth and goeth, and all the people who are with him, from Baale-Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God, whose name hath been called--the name of Jehovah of Hosts, inhabiting the cherubs--upon it.
After discovering this, prompted by a footnote bringing it to light, something else began to form in my mind. A parallel between the Temple of Solomon and how the stones were quarried and cut and the vessels were cast in clay away from the temple. All cutting of stones was done away from the Temple grounds.**(see article “Living Stones” /Bible Study/The Temple). All vessels ( people).
The Ark, the Shekinah Glory was in Solomon’s Temple but left and never came back for subsequent rebuilds. The people of Israel were fractured into two houses: “Israel and Judah” and they became scattered.
Compare to Jesus ascending to the Father and the Sheep being scattered as He foretold:
Mat_26:31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
Mar_14:27 And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
Joh_16:32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
Joh 11:54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples. ** (see article “U.S. is Ephraim” /Bible Study)
Joh 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
Jesus came to us, we who are known as Christians and while we have strayed far from the Truth, we believe in Him and have received Him into our hearts until the time of the rising up of the 144 Thousand who will guide and teach and help to turn back the hearts of the Children to their Living God and walk in His Ways, Commandments and Statutes. We are in this wilderness called Ephraim/ America.
The Shekinah Glory left the Temple. Jesus Ascended to the Father. The NAME was attached/ TO the Ark, was (in it?—was IT?--) The Ark which man has sought to find ever since it disappeared. Could it be, it is not here on earth at all? Has it been in heaven all this time? Revelation might give us a clue:
Rev_11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
The children of Israel were scattered TWICE. Once after Solomon’s kingdom was rent in to 12 pieces and then again after Jesus was crucified and resurrected. Scattered sheep, fleeing into the wilderness of the world.
