Searching For the True Name

Shabbat, 5thD,8thM

Below is something I began working on a few years back. Just recently, thoughts about the name and how it ties Jesus and His Bride together began to form and a deeper understanding of what it all might mean began to take shape. Anything to do with anything Hebrew, the people known as Israel, their God known as YHWH and their Book known as Torah and even the rest known as Tanach, it must be understood and embraced that there are many layers to everything presented. Many dimensions, many facets and when looked at from different angles will shine a new thing from the same source. Sadly most followers of this faith, whether Christian or Jewish, lock on to one way of seeing something as they heard it taught. This is not the way to understand God’s Word. The richness and depth of the original Hebrew language cannot allow for one layer of meaning.

More on the search for the true Name.

I am in no way saying that this IS the name. Although it might be. I must put this disclaimer out there because many over time have brought forth their findings and why should what this view be any different? However, what I can say that this is one step closer than we have been before. It is not just the findings as they stand by themselves, but also the circumstances surrounding this finding. On a Sabbath, on the 26th day of a Roman month, the divine sense of peace that was with me during this study and again the fact that what I started out doing with regard to study, EHYEH gently took me off that path and made me seek this out instead.

This must be important only because my plan for today was to just read and study the Torah, but EHYEH had different plans.

I am sitting in my sunroom reading the Stone’s Tanach Version of scripture. This morning reading in Genesis about the birth of Judah. There is a footnote with rabbinic commentary.

It is interesting to note that people or even organizations that attempt to suppress truth or hide it, eventually get caught in their web of deceit in the most innocuous ways. In many cases it is the very arrogance of the ones trying to hide the truth that causes them to slip with revealing truth. They just can’t help themselves as it is pride that causes them to all fall eventually. Rabbis, scribes and Pharisees are not exempt.

According to this commentary, the very name of Judah (YEHUDAH) contains the four letter Tetragrammaton of God.

There are no coincidences in Hebrew and I am so convinced…none exist in our lives either. Is it coincidence this is the 26th day of February which even though is a pagan Roman month, it is also the Gematria number value of YHWH and it is His Sabbath day. So then, is part of the secret revealed in the Roman letters? It appears so.

In doing deeper studies of the Hebrew letters and how they evolved in some cases to become Greek, Latin, Roman and English letters we use, it became apparent that a few of the Hebrew letters are very similar to each other. That is another study for another day, but suffice it to say it is part of the reason I began to put certain things under more scrutiny.

As I poured over my previous notes and studied the letters again, the most incredible peace came over me. I have experienced this before when my husband went to Afghanistan. It is a peace that surpasses all understanding. I know it to be from Abba Father. It felt like a cloak wrapped around me.

So, let’s go back to the rabbinic commentary. Let’s look at the name of Leah’s fourth son, YEHUDAH and see what can be seen.

Y E H U D A H

Y    H          H

Hmm…..seems we are missing something….or…are we? Can the missing mystery be found in the Waw?

According to part of the Hebrew meaning of this letter, it can have a “vee” sound used as a consonant.

Interestingly, the Romans use the “V” as their “U”. Even though so far I have not come across a connection here in any Hebrew definition for this letter, it is also interesting to note that our modern day “W” does indeed come from the letter “U” being doubled and if we look at the Roman “U” depicted as a “V”…it is no stretch to see a “W” being indeed a double “UU” or in the case of the Roman letters, a double “VV”.

So then, let’s look again at the name of Leah’s’ fourth son:

Y E H  U  D A H

Y    H  W       H

Take the Dalet out temporarily and given what we know about the “U” and “W” and what the rabbis say becomes more apparent.

Now, we have broken down the “W”, let’s look at the other letters:

“Y”

Known as the Yad or Yud in modern Hebrew. “Y” also doubled as an “I”. We also do this in our English language often finding “Y” being used as a vowel sound in a word with the short “i” sounding like “ee”.

In Greek and Roman language taken from the middle Semitic form of this Hebrew letter, it is indeed an “I” with the sound of “ee” or “iy”

“H”

The “H” is the Hebrew “HEY”. The second and fourth letter of YHWH. It can be used as the consonant form, or more commonly in the Hebrew is used as a vowel sound of “eh” or “ay”.

Again, the Greeks and Romans have taken and adapted this letter from the middle Semitic form and use it as an “E”.

There appears to be a pattern forming here with regard to these letters being sounded out as vowels rather than their consonant form. Why might this be significant?

Let’s digress for a moment. For a long time before all this was revealed, I had been playing around with the sounding out of YHWH based on the letters sounds. What I kept coming up with was this:

“eeyehhwah”  “ee-yeh-hwah” . A very breathy sound.

If we then look at the above findings, each letter can have a sound:

Y    H    W    H

ee – ay – oo – ay

The WH part comes out sounding like “uu – ay” or “oo- ay” (ooway –or- uuway ) which then gives it a “w” sound in the middle by virtue of putting the two together. There is no getting around the “w” sound being made when you bring “uu” or “oo” together with “ay”. It’s just a natural occurrence.

So then…moving on we also know that the Dalet was added into the name of YHWH for this fourth son of Jacob  to denote and tell us that from this tribe, the doorway to the Father would be made accessible. YHWDH. Wow.

It appears that nothing is coincidental. A few years ago, YHWH led me on a path of understanding many things with regard to the subject of Etymology, or the study of word origins. As a result, I discovered many names in scripture that appeared different (which cause so many to be confused, myself included!) were actually not different at all, but just different spelling variations of the same name. Once this was understood, many passages in scripture began to make much more sense.

Then later, viewing the DVD “Passion of the Christ” , thanks to Mel Gibson’s seeming obsession with keeping things accurate, I caught something in hearing the Aramaic name of the person we all know as Caesar or phonetically “see-zar”. It is not pronounced with a soft “C’ (see), it is pronounced with a hard “K” sound so in fact phonetically, would be “kye-zer”. We also find it was in the Strong’s all this time:

Caesar's.G2541

G2541

Καῖσαρ

Kaisar

Kah'ee-sar

Of Latin origin; Caesar, a title of the Roman emperor: - Csar.

Obviously this has nothing to do directly with this teaching about the Name, but it should change the mindset when studying the word and coming across names with this sound and even many others.

Only recently, did we get this movie out and watch it again for the second time. This was  my husband’s first time. It was at his request to watch it. Again, I think, no coincidence as this Name search has been going on now for awhile.

This time viewing it, I heard something I had not caught the first time. It was how Miriam spoke her son’s name “Yeshua”. It was all in HOW she pronounced it.

Phonetically: “eeyayshua”. It was the “eeyay” part that caught me.

This immediately brought to mind Exodus 3:14. EHYEH. The “ I AM.”.

There is only one place in all of the Brit Chadasha where we see the I AM in its full force. In the Garden of Gethsemane when YEHshua is asked if He is Jesus Christ. Recall what happened to all the soldiers when He said “I AM”.

Joh 18:6  As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

It was the bringing together of all of this that leads me to make the next few statements:

I feel that the Son’s name could very well have been EHYEHshua.

That not only has His name been corrupted by the changing of it to the so-called Christian name of Jesus, but that, along with a theory from a friend with whom I have been midrashing about the name, that the most likely real reason for the Judaic leaders of the time to want rid of Him had to do with the fact that everywhere EHYEHshua went, He was teaching others to ask in His NAME when praying to the Father and teaching His name. We even have scriptural proof of this:

Joh 17:6  I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

Joh 17:26  And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Act 4:17  But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

Act 4:18  And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

EHYEH, or I AM, was so powerful as to knock those soldiers down to the ground. For anyone to have this name on their lips was a power that the Pharisees and religious leaders could not allow to be known. They had, after all, spent all these hundreds of years doing everything in their power to hide it from everyone using the excuse that it was too sacred to utter.

Nonsense.

The very scriptures themselves cry out to call upon His Name, they cry out that the Name had been polluted and corrupted. BY WHO?? You must ask yourselves!!!

These puffed up and arrogant sons of the devil who have masqueraded as pious and righteous all knowing religious leaders, knew that if this Name got out…their power would be over. Gone. Snuffed out like a candle flame.

Mal 1:6  A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

Mat 10:22  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Yes, the Name is sacred for sure. But nowhere in the scriptures does YHWH say that we are not to utter it. Yet, everywhere in scripture it does say call upon it!!!

Let’s take one last look at the Son’s name:

EH   YEH  SHUA

I        AM   SALVATION

In Torah, we find four mentions of His name in this form:

(Gen 49:18)  I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.

(Exo 14:13)  And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

(Exo 15:2)  The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

(Deu 32:15)  But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

WHAT?? Let’s look at this, again:

(KJV+)  But JeshurunH3484 waxed fat,H8080 and kicked:H1163 thou art waxen fat,H8080 thou art grown thick,H5666 thou art coveredH3780 with fatness; then he forsookH5203 GodH433 which madeH6213 him, and lightly esteemedH5034 the RockH6697 of his salvation.H3444

H3444

ישׁוּעה

yeshû‛âh

yesh-oo'-aw

Feminine passive participle of H3467; something saved, that is, (abstractly) deliverance; hence aid, victory, prosperity: - deliverance, health, help (-ing), salvation, save, saving (health), welfare.

In the rest of Tanach, 115 additional times.

This from Jeff Benner’s Hebrew Dictionary:

1000 / eosft / t-shu-ah Translation:+Rescue

Definition:+A deliverance or freedom from a burden, enemy

or trouble. AHLB:+1476-L (i1) Strong's:+8668

These last days we are living in, we must consider all things when studying and seeking out the truth. It is by the calling upon HIS NAME, that we will be saved

Zec 13:9  And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

Psa 50:15  And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Psa 55:16  As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.

Psa 80:18  So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

Psa 91:14  Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

Isa 52:5  Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.

Isa 52:6  “Therefore My people shall know My Name, in that day, for I am the One who is speaking. See, it is I.”

Jer 34:16  But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.

Mat 10:22  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

By no means are these all the verse that speak of the Name. If you have e-Sword, do a search. I have done another separate study on this but it too big and too long to add to this.

We are supposed to know His true Name. We are to seek it out, to search it out as in Proverbs 25:2.

Keep an open mind and an open heart…look at everything that comes to you, even small seemingly remote things such as words used in movies. You just never know what YHWH might use to show you truth.

Finally, pray and ask for wisdom and discernment and He will reward those whose hearts are pure who seek His truth.

NOTE UPDATE - 31 Dec 2011. In viewing a video of Psalm 91 being sung, it included the Hebrew words and their phonetic pronouncing and I saw this:

bi-shu-a-ti

My salvation

Psalm 91

More proof.

I AM verses:

Exo 3:14  And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Joh 8:58  Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Just a reminder, where a word is italicized, translators put it in for what they deemed clarity. Try reading the verse without those words.

Joh 9:9  Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.

Joh 13:13  Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

Joh 18:4  Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

Joh 18:5  They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

Joh 18:6  As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

Mar 14:61  But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

Mar 14:62  And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Mar 14:63  Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?

Mar 14:64  Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

Joh 8:24  I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Joh 8:28  Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

Joh 8:58  Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Joh 13:13  Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

Joh 13:19  Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

NOTE UPDATE - 22 Oct 2016 –

Some more indepth thoughts:

Breaking down the name of EHYEHshua after considering the name given to Moses of EHYEH.

The Bride must be reunited with the Bridegroom. When Moses asked about His name, was he only given the first half? Was the name possibly “incomplete”? Some things to consider in light of the feminine aspect of our Creator, that being the Holy Spirit, the Ruach ha Kodesh. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that we get wisdom (known as Sophia in the Greek and again a feminine aspect).

Let’s examine:

The name of Eve in the Greek:

G2096

Εὖα

Eua

yoo'-ah

Of Hebrew origin [H2332]; Eua (or Eva, that is, Chavvah), the first woman: - Eve.

Interesting to note, that the sounding of Eve in Greek is so remarkably close to the last part of the name YHWH. Yet, we know in Exodus

Exo 3:14  And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

And then…later….

Exo_6:3  And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

So, something remarkable begins to take shape in the name of Jesus in the Hebrew:

EHYEH- SH- ua

We have EHYEH (I AM)

We have “ua” (EVE in the Greek)

We have the Hebrew Shin SH in the middle.

What is this Shin? The paleo-Hebrew symbol is teeth, symbolic of cutting something, being sharp. What is called “sharp” in scripture? The Sword of the LORD as a sharp two edged sword. Those two edges, I submit are Jesus (EHYEH) on one side and His Bride (UA as Holy Spirit of Israel on the other) with the TORAH ( the sharp two edged sword of TRUTH) between them, shared by them and unified by them, made solid as ONE.

If accepting this view, could it mean that when EHYEH gave Moses His name, it was incomplete because Israel was His Bride and He would WOO her in the wilderness?

Could this explain the verse in Exodus 6:3 whereby we are shown that even the patriarchs did not have the full name given to them? Because His Bride was yet in the making?

  • More proof of HOW the Hebrew lettter "Y" (Yod") would truly be pronounced:

    24 August, 2018

    More proof

From a resource study of the Maccabees.

    Origin of the name “Maccabees”:

An Israelite named Mattityahu led a revolt against the edicts put in place by Antiochus Epiphanes.

When he died, his son Judah continued the resistance and the name, the declaration by which these were known was:

Mi Kamocha b’elim YHWH  (means “Who is like the LORD among gods.”)

The first Hebrew letter of each word (forming an acrostic) in that phrase became the name

    “Maccabees” Let’s break this down:

    Mi       M

    Kamocha       K

    B’elim             B

    YHWH           Y

    M        Ma

    K         cc

    B         b

Y         ee    HERE is yet MORE evidence of HOW to pronounce the Name

     https://www.chabad.org/holidays/chanukah/article_cdo/aid/3860786/je...

    excerpt:

The word Maccabee has become synonymous with the small band of Jewish freedom fighters who freed Judea from the Syrian-Greek occupiers during the Chanukah saga in the Second Temple period (read about the Maccabees here).

This term originally applied only to Judah, who led the group following the death of his father, Matityahu, and is referred to in early writings as “Judah Maccabee” (Judas Maccabeus in Greek).1

The name is commonly spelled מכבי, but sometimes מקבי as well. What does it mean?

    “Who Is Like G‑d?”

Perhaps the best known explanation is that the word “Maccabee” is composed of the initial letters of a verse the Jewish people sang after G‑d split the sea: “Mkamocha ba’eilim Hashem (מי כמוך באילים י׳), “Who is like You among the mighty, O G‑d.”2

It is said that this phrase was the battle cry of Maccabees, written upon their banners and shields.3

    What Does "Maccabee" Mean?
The word has become synonymous with the small band of Jewish freedom fighters who freed Judea from the Syrian-Greek occupiers…
