Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge

NT Apologetics - Jesus's Parents

There are two bloodlines or genealogies depicted in the NT. One in Matthew and one in Luke.

While many scoffers use this to rip apart the NT, they need not. Especially anyone who is of Jewish background since they of all people, know from their own culture that the wording is such that it reflects BOTH parents lineage.

Christians also are confused because some think they are the same lineage but they aren't. And why does one stop at Abraham and the other goes all the way back to Adam, son of God?

Joseph's lineage goes back to Abraham and this establishes the Abrahamic Covenant. Also

Matthew's establishes Joseph's lineage from the line of David through Solomon.

Luke's establishes Mary's lineage from the line of David through Nathan. Mary's goes back all the way to Adam in order to establish the seedline as being from the son of God, Adam.

Please note the term "son of Heli" as a Judaic Idiom referring to Joseph as "son-in-law".

BOTH genealogies share also Salathiel (Shealtiel) whom is connected with the Aaronite lineage.

Joseph's bloodline through Solomon establishes kingship.

Mary's bloodline through Nathan establishes prophet.

BOTH are also established as High Priest worthy through Salathiel (Shealtiel).

While Joseph was not Jesus' actual birth father, being "his son" in his family establishes His right to the throne and showing the Abrahamic Covenant establishes Jesus as the one in whom "all the families of the earth will be blessed".
