(The Scriptures 1998+)  ‘And this day shall become to you a remembrance. And you shall observe it as a festival to יהוה throughout your generations – observe it as a festival, an everlasting law.

As we can see, many other translations use the word “remembrance”. Let’s look at why:

(KJV+)  And thisH2088 dayH3117 shall beH1961 unto you for a memorial;H2146 and ye shall keepH2287 it a feastH2282 to the LORDH3068 throughout your generations;H1755 ye shall keep it a feastH2287 by an ordinanceH2708 for ever.H5769

H2146

זכרון

zikrôn

zik-rone'

From H2142; a memento (or memorable thing, day or writing): - memorial, record.

H2142

זכר

zâkar

zaw-kar'

A primitive root; properly to mark (so as to be recognized), that is, to remember; by implication to mention; also (as denominative from H2145) to be male: -  X burn [incense], X earnestly, be male, (make) mention (of), be mindful, recount, record (-er), remember, make to be remembered, bring (call, come, keep, put) to (in) remembrance, X still, think on, X well.

Again, this is yet another example of the true meaning buried within word trails. While memorial might be descriptive to identify this feast as important, it does not help us to connect it with what Jesus said to His disciples:

Luk 22:19  And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Shabbat, Intercalary Sabbath

It is vital that all who believe in Jesus Christ, come to understand that He meant what He said:

Mat 5:18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
