FASTING vs. AFFLICTION

The below is dated from the original beginning of this study. Studying in Ezekiel this morning there appears to be a connection with the LORD's Day and clouds. After the original definition given, I will list verse as I find them that include words or phrases regarding "that day".

20 July, 2013

During a study of this I was surprised to find that fasting is not necessarily what YHWH means. If anyone can clarify even more please help:

It seems this makes this day look even more like one we should be very watchful of......

There is no use of the word  “fast” or “fasting” used in conjunction with the Day of Atonement in Leviticus.

The word  “afflict” is used. Strong’s # 6031 leads us to the Hebrew Lexicon # 1359 whereby it is a word that has many meanings to include:

A watching over something of importance

A close watching

Cloud – as watched to tell weather

Protection of the home by keeping a close eye on it.

Furrow as in deep angst the furrow of your brow.

Humble

Fast ( mentioned here also but more emphasis is given on the above meanings.)

Prophet Isaiah also referred to this "hiding away" in chapter 26, verses 20-21:

"Come, my people, enter your chambers and shut your doors behind you; hide yourself, as it were, for a little while, until the indignation is past. For behold, the Lord comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the Earth for their iniquity;"

In Ezekiel:

Word search on "cloudy"

(Eze 30:3)  For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.

Eze_38:16  And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

(Eze 34:12)  As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.

Word search on "cloud"

(Eze 1:4)  And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

Clues about which day it was(?):

Eze 1:1  Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

Eze 1:2  In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,

(Eze 30:18)  At Tehaphnehes also the day shall be darkened, when I shall break there the yokes of Egypt: and the pomp of her strength shall cease in her: as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.

(Eze 32:7)  And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.

Eze 32:8  All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.

(Eze 38:9)  Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.

(Eze 38:16)  And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

Will something happen around Christmas of some certain year?

Eze_30:3  For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.

Christmas is a time of the heathen and see below. The 5th day of the 10th month falls around Christmas (give or take a day) according to the Creator's calendar in Enoch. In 2015, this would be December 24th.

Eze_33:21 And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.

(Eze 38:16)  And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

  • okay, for some reason, having trouble posting the Hebrew Lexicon definition for FASTING. so I believe if you go to the site and lookup 1359, you will find it.

I feel there is a definite connection between affliction, fasting and a day of watching and of clouds and darkness. Now, whether this is just one day as we know it, or a span of time as in a day is equal to a year in prophecy, I cannot say.

  • As you can see the date on this from 2013. It was searching for something else after watching a certain message on YT this morning, that this surfaced, so I have posted it. If there is anything to add to it, I will post in the comments.
