Roots/Hebrew Connections

Many might be able to truthfully claim to be Hebrew, but not all who are Hebrew can claim to be of Israel.

Those who support “anti-semitism” might indeed be Semite themselves.

Because this knowledge is not taught in the faiths of Judaism and Christianity, many err. There is no reason to err if one knows their bible.

The name “Eber” occurs first in the lineage and ancestry of Abraham.

The word “Hebrew” is first mentioned in connection with Abraham as he is called an Hebrew (Gen 14:13)

Here is evidence to show that to be a Hebrew is to descend from Eber.

Eber (first mention in Genesis 10:21)

 H5677

עבר

‛êber

ay'-ber

The same as H5676; Eber, the name of two patriarchs and four Israelites: - Eber, Heber.

Hebrew (first mention in Genesis 14:13)

H5680

עברי

‛ibrı̂y

ib-ree'

Patronymic from H5677; an Eberite (that is, Hebrew) or descendant of Eber: - Hebrew (-ess, woman).

There are some groups today who feel they identify as Hebrews. To be then, Hebrew, technically and factually speaking, anyone who descends from Eber can be called Hebrew and being a Hebrew doesn’t automatically make one an Israelite.

Tracing lineage back, we find that Eber descended from Shem, first mention found in Genesis 5:32. Technically and factually anyone who is descended from Shem can be called a “Shemite” or as we know it today “Semite”.

We know that Abram fathered Ishmael through Hagar.

We know that Abraham fathered Isaac through Sarah.

PLEASE NOTE: That Ishmael was fathered by Abram BEFORE YHWH  changed his name to Abraham.

None were circumcised until after Isaac was born.

So to be called an Hebrew one traces their heritage to Abraham and even further back to Eber. So technically, any and all of Eber’s children can be Hebrew:

Gen 10:21  Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.

Gen 10:22  The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

Gen 10:23  And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.

Gen 10:24  And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.

Please NOTE that descendants of Aram are known as Syrians today. ARAM is the ancient biblical name for SYRIA.

Also, technically, all of Eber’s children also qualify as Shemite (or Semite as we call it today).

Why is this crucial to know? Because the term “anti-semite” has been erroneously applied to a specific “race”, just one people for whom many of those that are actively “anti-semite” are of the exact same lineage. We are talking of a huge family tree here. Even the sons of Ishmael who hate Israel and the all that goes with it, including both Jew and Christian; these people hate their own kin and technically, genetically are Semite/Shemite. If careful and exhaustive study is done, to see who is who, the picture becomes clear and many who are Semite/Shemite without even realizing it are in the group of “anti-semites” as it is defined to this day.

So who might fit this category?

If one is of Shem, Eber, Abram/Abraham, these are all Shemite/Semite. ALL. If one is of Eber, Abram, Abraham; these are all Hebrew including Ishmael (and all his descendants) , Isaac (and all his descendants through BOTH Esau and Jacob and ALL of their descendants). That….is a lot of people and we have not even factored in that Eber had more than one child as did Shem. So, again, technically speaking ANY and ALL who are descended from both Shem and Eber are first Shemite and second (through Eber) Hebrews.

God is the one who has decided who the seed of promise is through and that has been established in the seed of Isaac. Now we know that Isaac had two sons, Esau and Jacob. But Esau despised his birthright and sold it for porridge.

A deeper study of the Aleph Tau reveals that God (the WORD or ET) was with Esau (as it is written in the Hebrew but left out, untranslated in the English (please see Strong’s H853 found 7,302 times in the Old Testament alone). This is a deep and long study for which is mentioned here, but we will not dive into it in this work.

While the Christian doctrine teaches that Jacob deceived Isaac ( and so lied which is a sin), many have ignored what God told Rebekah:

Gen 25:22  And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.

Gen 25:23  And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

Gen 25:24  And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

Gen 25:25  And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

Gen 25:26  And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

Has anyone even considered, that Jacob should have been the firstborn? Looking again at what God told Rebekah that the elder should serve the younger. If Jacob should have been the “elder” and Esau the “younger”, then descendants of Jacob would be in some form of bondage to the children of Esau, know as Edom or Edomites. We already know from Scriptural proof that Edom did indeed infiltrate the ranks of Judah, mostly in the upper eschelon of their society and culture, in positions of power and rule over the people.

Esau hated Jacob for what he did, but Jacob did it because his mother Rebekah told him to. Could it be she knew the birth order was wrong, that the struggle of the two nations (clearly God said they are separate and distinctly different peoples). Did she try to right the wrong that took place in the womb whereby that struggle, Jacob was overcome and Esau won first place? We can only surmise but since there is not enough detail presented, why might we just assume that Jacob deceived anyone?

Truly this whole event is one in which causes much angst in Christian circles and doubt to many other things.

Consider also the intense hatred of Ishmael against Isaac. We are not given much detail in Genesis, but when we look at what Sepher ha Yasher has to say, we find much more detail that justifies why Sarah was so upset.

When we add the hatred of both Ishmael and Esau together, the children of these two and their descendants would carry that generational curse of anger and hatred (doubled now) forward into where we are today. Biblical proof shows that Esau married the daughters of Ishmael, but first he married two Hittite women (Gen 26:34).

The Hittites were descended from the sons of Heth (Gen 23:10)who was a son of Canaan (Gen 10:15). Technically speaking then, the Hittite wives of Esau were Canaanites. Rebekah was vexed in soul by these wives of Esau.

Gen 26:34  And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:

Gen 26:35  Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.

And here we find that Esau then married daughters of Ishmael:

 Gen 28:8  And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

Gen 28:9  Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

The elder shall serve the younger. In Scripture we find evidence that the descendants of the elder Esau/Edom do indeed serve the descendants of the younger in the sons of Jacob, most specifically the tribe of Judah (1 Chron 18:13). If however, we continues to study lineages we find that somewhere along the line, the tables turned in favor of Esau/Edom in that they found ways in which to get revenge. Many consider any mention of the global elite to be conspiracy theory, but if we can put aside that for a bit and actually take a look objectively, some interesting things begin to surface.

We also find evidence of Edomite infiltration and betraying and murdering:

1Ki 11:1  But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;

1Ki 11:2  Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

1Ki 11:3  And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

Many in the very House of David are descended from mixed heritage of nations and peoples whose hatred for Israel runs deep. The enemy’s hand in attempting to pollute the royal seed of Messiah is seen very clearly.

1Ki 11:14  And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

The elder will serve the younger (that might be the true elder [Jacob] will serve the true younger [Esau]. We see here where the tables are flipped by God:

1Ki 11:11  Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

1Ki 11:12  Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

1Ki 11:14  And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

2Ch 21:5  Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

2Ch 21:6  And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.

2Ch 21:7  Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.

2Ch 21:8  In his( Jehoram) days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.

2Ch 21:9  Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.

2Ch 21:10  So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he(Jehoram) had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.

Even in Hosea, God is the God of equal balances:

IF the theory presented here regarding that Jacob was overcome in the womb, should have been firstborn, consider the verses below as supporting that theory.

Hos 12:3  (12:4) In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and by his strength he strove with a godlike being;

Hos 12:4  (12:5) So he strove with an angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication unto him; at Beth-el he would find him, and there he would speak with us;

The above verses are from the JPS translation. If we look at the KJV, we are unable to fully grasp this concept:

Hos 12:3  He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:

In verse 4 of Hosea 12 we find that Jacob was given a chance to balance things. What he lost in the womb was given back to him when he strove with the angel:

Gen 32:24  And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

Gen 32:25  And when he saw that he [the angel] prevailed not against him[Jacob], he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

Gen 32:26  And he [the angel]said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he[Jacob] said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

Gen 32:27  And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

Gen 32:28  And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

First, Jacob strives in the womb and loses his place as firstborn. Later he is reconciled and given prominence back.

More evidence of corruption of the true Way faith of Israel, this providing opportunity for polluting of the priests, the temple, they very way of life that God had ordained for the nation of Israel.

2Ch 25:14  Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.

The people look to their king for guidance. What the king does, so also the people will do.

The entire chapter 28 of 1 Chronicles provides us with even more downfall of Judah. God allowed the paganism to come in and spoil and pollute Judah.

While this study might have digressed off the original path somewhat, it must be understood that a lot of the details responsible for the confusion about the Semite lines and the FULL understanding and knowledge of what it means to be anti-semite/anti-Shemite, are found documented within the most boring and tedious books in the Bible which most confess they skip, myself included for many, many years. Paul even said:

2Ti 3:15  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

2Ti 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

At the time this was written, there was no New Testament. The “ALL scripture” referred to was the Old Testament. All of it. God is not a God of neither hot or cold, being lukewarm. He is ALL or nothing. If we are to know anything we must give it our ALL, we must embrace ALL of the Word.

Many might be able to truthfully claim to be Hebrew (descended from Eber), but not all who are Hebrew can claim to be of Israel.

Those who support “anti-semitism” might indeed be Semite (descended from Shem)themselves.

Because this knowledge is not taught in the faiths of Judaism and Christianity, many err. There is no reason to err if one knows their bible.
